A minute from our Staunton, VA lodging, guests can visit the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, the 28th president of the United States. Take a stroll to Gospel Hill where you will find the former president’s birthplace and museum. The former home of Woodrow Wilson, who conceived the League of Nations, has been lovingly restored to the way it would have appeared in 1856, the year he was born. This Greek Revival manse is an authentic example of a Shenandoah Valley home during the pre-Civil War era.

President Woodrow Wilson’s Birthplace & Museum

Stroll through magnificent gardens and take an intriguing tour of the museum, opened in 1990, which houses the Woodrow Wilson Research Library. This building sits adjacent to the home and features objects, photographs and documents highlighting President Wilson’s life before his presidency including his career as President of Princeton University, governor of New Jersey and his eventful presidency during the years of 1913 and 1921. This museum former president’s home is decorated in period furnishings and was dedicated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1941.
