The Stonewall Jackson Hotel has been certified by the Virginia Tourism Corporation as Virginia Green.
Virginia Green is a partnership between the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. The program awards Virginia Green Certification to tourism-related business such as hotels, restaurants and attractions taking voluntary actions to reduce harmful impacts on the environment.
Our proudest green initiative is our Rooftop Herb Garden. Together, the Stonewall Jackson staff planted a garden of herbs in the recycled plastic and metal food containers from the hotel kitchen. We salvage the water runoff from the air conditioning system to water the plants. Our culinary team uses the herbs we grow for meal preparation.
